What are expectations from students?
All students are expected to follow the code of conduct outlined in our Terms of Service. We rely on each student to be an active participant in class, sharing thoughts and ideas.
What is the duration of each class?
Each class is one hour long.
Are your classes interactive?
Yes! Our classes are run in the form of interactive webinar. The students are involved in intense discussions, interacting with the instructor and other students over chat, voice and whiteboard.
What are the age range and average age of students?
The classes are for self-motivated 10-13 year old students. Most of our students are 10-12 years old ( Year 1) and 11-13 ( Year 2).
What are prerequisites to taking the class?
Since a significant portion of the students' interaction with teacher and classmates happens over chat, your child should be comfortable communicating via chat, and switching between Zoom and Youtube tabs. In order to submit the homework to the Google Classroom, the participants should have a gmail account.
What is a typical class size?
We usually have 8-12 students in each class, in order to provide individual attention to each child. This season the classes may be a bit bigger, due to school closures. Class registration will close when the cap for students per class is reached. Class will be cancelled if there are fewer than 5 students enrolled.
What equipment do I need?
You should have a good Internet connection, webcam and microphone. Please make sure that your equipment works with your Zoom settings prior to class. The participants need to have a Gmail account in order to access the Google Classroom/Homework.
What if I missed the previous session?
IWe recommend that you take the sessions in the order we teach them. Please do not sign up for the Year 2 classes without taking the Year 1 classes.
What if I need to miss a class?
Our classes provide a lot of flexibility. If you are not able to attend, you are welcome to join any class of the same level that week. The Sunday classes cannot be made up.
Is there any homework?
There is an optional, ungraded homework assignment for each class. The focus of the homework is on hands-on activities, and helping the student to develop a scientific portfolio. The longer projects may serve as inspiration for a science fair research project. The students are welcome to share the results of their homework, including photo and video, with the instructor, over Google Classroom.
Are there any grades or completion certificates?
There are no grades or certificates, but we may provide a short report for the parents after the course, per parent's request.
What is the difference between years 1 and 2?
Year 1 is for first-year students who are new to our courses. Year 2 is for returning students who have already completed the Year 1 curriculum.
Do you teach international students?
Yes, we have students from several countries, and offer time slots best suited for international timezones.
Do you accept private groups of students?
